Autoliv Factory DAS Upgrade

Manufacturing DAS Case Study

Autoliv Factory DAS Upgrade

TELNET helped upgrade an older distributed antenna system for the Autoliv Safety Systems factory in Ogden, Utah, improving in-building cellular coverage for an administration and research-and-development facility.

Project Overview

In-building wireless performance for real facilities.

Autoliv needed to modernize an older in-building DAS that supported AWS, PCS, and 3G bands. The facility was too far from the nearest Verizon cell tower to provide consistent signal strength, and the older system had limited reception.

  • Existing DAS upgrade
  • AWS, PCS, 3G, CDMA, and 4G LTE support
  • Benchmark testing and RF design
  • Carrier commissioning support
Case Study

Challenge, solution, and result.

These project examples show how planning, RF design, field work, testing, and carrier coordination come together in operational buildings.

Challenge

Coverage and project constraints

The existing DAS could not provide the level of cellular performance needed inside the facility. Autoliv wanted better reception and support for CDMA and newer 4G LTE bands while keeping the project practical for an operational building.

Solution

TELNET project approach

TELNET conducted preliminary benchmark testing to understand signal levels across the building, then designed an upgraded DAS with a new BDA supporting AWS, PCS, 3G, CDMA, and 4G LTE. The system was installed, tested, and turned over for carrier commissioning.

Results

Operational benefit

Employees and visitors benefited from improved in-building cellular coverage, reducing calls that faded, dropped, or were unreliable inside the facility.

TELNET Experience

Engineering-led DAS support from survey through closeout.

TELNET brings RF benchmarking, design, equipment planning, installation coordination, testing, commissioning support, and documentation discipline to complex in-building wireless projects.

  • RF benchmark testing and site assessment
  • DAS/BDA planning and antenna placement
  • Carrier and project-team coordination
  • Installation, testing, and commissioning support
  • Practical planning for occupied facilities
  • Documentation support for project closeout
